butcher block countertop

Butcher Block counters can add great character and warmth to your space.  Butcher Block counters are made of many individual boards of wood which are then adhered together to create the size and shape desired for your countertops.

Installer must seal them with an oil to complete the project.  For everyday cleaning, simply use warm water, a sponge and a little dish soap.  You can also use a  water and vinegar solution.  Use a scrapper to get off any stuck on stains or food debris.  If you have small stain, try a sprinkle of salt and lemon juice over it, scrub and voila it should be gone.

Although you can use your countertop as a cutting board it may increase your chances of denting or scratching your surface.  Butcher block is softer material compared to stone counters.

If you think your entire butcher block counter could use a refresh then it is easy to refinish them.  Use a light sanding pad to buff out any marks or stains.  Then use a mineral oil to reseal and treat the wood, your counters will look like new again!
