Meet the Craftsman

Why did you decide to be a carpenter?

At a young age I would help my Dad and Pepe with their projects and I loved it.  I was a super active kid and could never sit still, still can’t! I was about 12 or 13 when I started to hang around the cabinet shop with my dad, helping with clean up, assembling pine furniture, working for pennies for an allowance.  Then at 15 I started working with my Dad at a property maintenance company.

When it came time for high school I decided to go to Baypath Technical Vocational School and the easy choice for my area of study was carpentry because I had some experience in it.

I love that I have an active job where I can create something with my hands everyday.

What inspires you?

Growing up in New England I’ve always been inspired by the level of craftsmanship displayed in the historical homes that surround us.  Some of my earliest memories are at my grandparents historical farm house.  Today I own a historic home built in 1854.  Whether it’s renovating a historic home and the adventures that come with that or adding character to a newer build I love coming up with creative ideas.

I’m inspired by others in the field, constantly reading industry publications, listening to carpentry podcasts and I will admit ,I do have a Pinterest account.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love a challenge.  My favorite projects to work on are those that require unique and thoughtful solutions.  The best part of my job is to see a project through from start to finish and to be able to see the final tangible results of my work.  There’s nothing better than finishing a project that both myself and the homeowner are proud of.
